Oh for fuck's sake
Was searching the net for an Acapella, eventually found a version actually on Youtube, went to a ripping site and caught a fucking virus - Avast notified it had blocked a virus in a popup but I've still caught the bleeding thing anyway!
It's the PCeU one with the bogus suspensino screen etc. Only it's the one that won't let you boot into safe more with networking so got to try a rollback.
FFSFC!!

Well, it too a fair old while to remove this the other night.
This morning...caught it again!
Avast detects the threat etc but then the system gets infected anyway. It's completely bypassing Avast.
Now got to waste the rest of the day getting rid of the thing again.
This is why, for the most part I use 'nix.
Dan - have you seen a lot more occurances of this recently?

I don't see it a great deal mate no, the easiest way to be rid of it is to remove the hard drive and put it in a caddy...then plug it into a PC that's in safe mode and manually remove it or use Malwarebytes to kill it. Then replace the HD and hey presto!

That all sounds very scarey

Caddy idea is nice but this PC is in a rack so not so easy that one but generally
One way I've found is go into safe mode with command prompt then run explorer, that gets you past the screen so you can run mbam.
